Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore endured another tough year in IPL as their wait for a trophy in their cabinet extended to another year. Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a six-wicket loss in the Eliminator to Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sheikh Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi. Kane Williamson slammed fifty and shared a partnership of 65 with Jason Holder for the fifth wicket as Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their fourth consecutive win in IPL 2020. For Virat Kohli, he failed to contribute for the fourth match and with only AB de Villiers performing with the bat, it was once again a familiar case of ‘so near yet so far’ for RCB.

After the end of the match, Virat Kohli shared an emotional post on his Twitter handle stating that Royal Challengers Bangalore will come back stronger in IPL 2021. On his Twitter handle, he wrote, “Together through the highs and lows. It's been a great journey for us as a unit. Yes things did not go our way but proud of the whole group. Thank you to all our fans for your support. Your love makes us stronger. See you all soon. #PlayBold @RCBTweets.”

Inconsistency from RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore started the tournament brilliantly and despite suffering two losses to Kings XI Punjab, they bounced back in grand style with victories over Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and they also came out on top in a pulsating tie against Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians. With Royal Challengers Bangalore needing just one win to seal their spot in the playoffs, they lost momentum at a crucial time.

They lost to Chennai Super Kings in the Day game and from that point on, it was all downhill for Kohli and his team. The skipper himself averaged only 20 in the last five games, leaving too much for the likes of AB de Villiers to perform. When they lost to Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals, they only managed to sneak through because their loss was not by a big margin against Delhi Capitals.

With one more year gone, Royal Challengers Bangalore will be determined to push for the title in IPL 2021.
