Suryakumar Yadav has been a key member of the Mumbai Indians’ side ever since IPL 2018 when he was picked for Rs 3.2 crore after having previously spent his time with Kolkata Knight Riders. The 29-year-old in IPL 2020 showed his class during Mumbai Indians’ encounter against Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi. Suryakumar Yadav batted well and had strung partnerships with the middle order as Mumbai Indians eyed a big score. In the 19th over, he was hit on the side of the head by a bouncer from Jofra Archer and he received treatment.
Clearly rattled, Suryakumar Yadav passed the concussion test and he batted on. Following the hit by the bouncer, Suryakumar Yadav gave the perfect riposte as he reverse-lapped a six off Jofra Archer and that impressed even Steve Smith, the Rajasthan Royals skipper.
.@surya_14kumar is special and very dangerous because he can play on all sides of the wicket.#MIvRR #IPL2020

Suryakumar Yadav’s 79 and a fine bowling performance from Jasprit Bumrah helped Mumbai Indians register a fine 57-run win to go on top of the table in IPL 2020.

The knock of Suryakumar Yadav also drew praise from Indian cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar who hailed Suryakumar Yadav’s knock on his official Twitter handle.
Ridiculous that Suryakumar Yadav is sitting in the dugout applying ICE on his head after that blow to the head by a bouncer. Should hv been asked to retire hurt.

Tendulkar wrote, “.@surya_14kumar is special and very dangerous because he can play on all sides of the wicket.” The praise from Tendulkar saw many people on social media stating that Suryakumar Yadav should play for the Indian cricket team in the near future.

“A good Surya innings was coming, I spoke to him before the game, and his shot selection was perfect today. We wanted him to bat till the end because he can innovate rather well,” Rohit said.
Suryakumar Yadav won the Man of the Match award for his knock and said he wanted to play responsibly in his knock.
“I felt it (a big knock) was coming in this game, because in the last few games I was finding ways to get out. This time I just wanted to bat till the end. Loving the added responsibility at the top of the order, and I've just been told to play my game and express myself and I did just that. The lockdown helped me with my off-side game rather than just my leg-side pick-up shot. The team winning is really satisfying and at that situation I had to bat till the end to get the team to a perfect total, and then the bowlers came and finished things off,” Suryakumar Yadav said.
Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Capitals in their next game in the double-header on Sunday at the Sheikh Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi.
