IPL 2017: Players hurting, but are trying to laugh off this season: Virat Kohli

Royal Challengers Bangalore hasn’t had the best IPL season. They are at the bottom of the table, have made the lowest score in IPL history, won two out of the 12 games they have played, and are at the bottom of the IPL points table.

RCB captain Virat Kolhi, whose poor form in the series, has grabbed eyeballs, told The Times of India that his team has accepted what has happened. “It’s very easy to get frustrated and point fingers when you are not doing well, but I think we have embraced and accepted what has happened,” he said.

Kohli admitted that his teammates have tried to laugh it off at times. “There have been so helpless situations that we have come back to the changing room laughing. We could never think we would experience something like this as a team. It can happen to one or two players, but all 11 feeling the same way is rare,” he added.

With their performance last season, and the team that had the likes of Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, people expected RCB to be one of the contenders for this year’s title, but it was not to be. The team’s horrific season has surprised everyone, including the players, who Kohli has admitted are hurting.

Asked how the RCB players motivated themselves after every passing defeat, Kohli said it has been quite difficult. “It’s not easy to pick yourself up after the kind of results that we have had,” he said. “It gets tough when you are pushing the team forward in whatever way you can and not getting the desired results.”
