A brilliant 55 by opener Sam Billings and some lusty hitting by Corey Anderson towards the end helped Delhi Daredevils (DD) beat Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 51 runs to complete their second successive victory here at the Ferozeshah Kotla here on Saturday.

Electing to bat first, DD openers Billings and Sanju Samson combined to give the hosts a solid start, adding 53 together. But Shreyas Iyer and Billings then gave away back-to-back wickets in the middle overs to put the brakes on DD's scoring. And when Rishabh Pant also got out trying to hit an almighty slog, they desperately needed a good partnership towards the end to reach a decent total.

And then got it, with a late tee off by Anderson and Pat Cummins eventually helping them reach a strong total of 188/6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Anderson, in particular, displayed his power with some stunning hits during the death overs.

KXIP could only muster 137/9 to hand over the hosts an easy victory. The cahse began on the wrong note, Both Manan Vohra and Wriddhiman Saha failed to trouble the scorer much after falling to Shahbaz Nadeem in successive overs.

The visitors then needed big contributions from their foreign batters to have any chance in the game. But opener Hashim Amla failed to capitalise on his solid start and played a Chris Morris full toss straight to the hands of Billings at deep square leg for 19.

This was the beginning of the end for the KXIP as Eoin Morgan (22) and skipper Glenn Maxwell (0) departed one after the other. And when last hope David Miller was adjudged LBW to Anderson for 24, it was only a matter of time before DD could taste their win.

Earlier, DD skipper Zaheer Khan chose to bat first in their first home game on a completely dry Kotla track. Having won their previous match convincingly against Rising Pune Supergiant, DD brought back Shreyas Iyer in place of Aditya Tare. Iyer recovered after missing first two games due to a bout of chickenpox.

Kings XI Punjab made two changes as Eoin Morgan and KC Cariappa replaced Marcus Stoinis and Ishant Sharma.
