Another addition to Royal Challengers Banglore's 'star-players-missing-the-game' squad is Sarfaraz Khan. Khan hurt his leg during a practice session on Monday at the M Chinnaswamy stadium and had to be stretchered off the field.

The 19-year-old swashbuckling, hard-hitter was supposed to be skipper Virat Kohli's replacement as the latter recovers from a shoulder injury sustained during the third Test match against Australia in Ranchi.

In the absence of Kohli and KL Rahul, who will undergo a surgery in London for his shoulder injury sustained during the first Test match against Aussies in Pune, it was Sarfaraz's time to shine for the Bengaluru-based team.

According to a report in Wisden India, RCB coach Daniel Vettori said that they are evaluating the possibility of Khan playing for the team with the BCCI. "Owing to a leg injury during the final Bangalore-based practice match session, Sarfaraz Khan will most likely be unavailable to play as a part of the RCB squad. We are evaluating the same with the BCCI. His absence will be definitely felt on-field and we wish him a speedy recovery," said Daniel Vettori.

The 'most-likely' part of the statement makes it clear that the extent of Khan's injury is not known and there is a chance that he will make a comeback during the tenth edition of Indian Premier League.

Apart from Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Khan, AB de Villiers too has been rested for RCB's first match against SunRisers Hyderabad on April 5. Shane Watson has been named the interim captain.

Even before starting their campaign for their maiden title, injured stars have put the team and management in the tight spot. For a good beginning, players like Chris Gayle and Kedar Jadhav will have to step up their game. This also means a great opportunity for home-grown talents like Pawan Negi, Mandeep Singh, Stuart Binny to rise and shine.
