Rajasthan Royals are all set to get a major boost in IPL 2020 regarding Ben Stokes, the England World Cup winning all-rounder. According to reports in the media, Ben Stokes is likely to be available for the Rajasthan Royals from the first week of October. Initially, there was speculation that Stokes might miss IPL 2020 to be with his ailing father in New Zealand. Ben Stokes’ father Ged, a former All Blacks rugby player, is suffering from brain cancer and is undergoing treatment in New Zealand.

Stokes left the series against Pakistan after he was granted compassionate leave by the England and Wales Cricket Board. Stokes left for New Zealand in the middle of August and since then, he is been taking care of his father as well as trying to get some cricket practice.

With Stokes practicing, it raises hopes that the star all-rounder might be available for at least 10 matches in IPL 2020 for the Rajasthan Royals, who have started their campaign on a high by beating MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in Sharjah.

Great start

Rajasthan Royals made an exceptional start to IPL 2020 by defeating Chennai Super Kings in a high-scoring encounter in Sharjah. Sanju Samson smashed nine sixes in his knock of 74 and he was well-supported by Steve Smith who blasted 69. Jofra Archer’s cameo at the end, which included four consecutive sixes off Lungi Ngidi, helped Rajasthan Royals reach 216/4.

In response, Chennai Super Kings were boosted by Faf du Plessis’ 72 but the rest of the batting could not deal with the pressure. MS Dhoni came lower down the order which did not please many fans and although he finished the game off with three sixes, the damage had already been done.

Rajasthan Royals will take on Kings XI Punjab in their next encounter in IPL 2020 on Sunday in Sharjah.
