In 2019, there was a hashtag which trended for a long time called #10yearchallenge. If one has to apply that #10yearchallenge in 2020, then it fits Chennai Super Kings perfectly. In IPL 2010, Chennai Super Kings lost five out of their first seven games and were at the bottom of the table. However, they won the next five out of the remaining games and qualified for the knockouts. They went one step ahead and won the title for the first time. In IPL 2020, the situation is the same. They lost five out of seven games and in the next part, they have started their campaign with a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

That win, amidst a ‘wide’ call that almost left MS Dhoni fuming, showed that the intent was back for the Chennai Super Kings. They will need to sustain their intent if they have to qualify for the play-offs. The loss by Royal Challengers Bangalore to Kings XI Punjab has given the likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals a lifeline and it will be MS Dhoni who would want to capitalise on it.

If one had told that the clash between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Suepr Kings would be between the top and the middle-level team, you could be mistaken for assuming that Chennai Super Kings are the top side and Delhi Capitals are struggling in the middle table. However, the tables have turned spectacularly.

Delhi Capitals are the top ranked side and Chennai Super Kings are in the middle. Their depth in bowling and batting has helped them immensely. For Chennai Super Kings, who fashion a late surge in the death, countering the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje might perhaps need a change of gameplan.
