Narendra Modi was denied permission to hold a rally in Benia Bagh and other areas of Varanasi. Instead he was allowed to rally only in Jagatpur which was 12 km away from the city. He was also not allowed to conduct the ganga aarti. Senior bjp leader Arun Jaitley in a press conference post the rally Varanasi said there was no IB report claiming that we were not permitted.
The BJP have also declared a protest in the Lanka area of Varanasi post the incident.
