Watch: Celebrating Jayalalithaa's victory in Tamil Nadu, auto driver offers ride for Re 1

To celebrate All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)'s victory in the 2016 Tamil Nadu assembly election and supremo J Jayalalithaa's swearing-in as Chief Minister, auto rickshaw driver Mathivanan decided to ply across Coimbatore for Re 1 only.

45-year-old Mathivanan has been driving auto rickshaw for the past 25 years and was a fan of the late Chief Minister MG Ramachandran, the founder of AIADMK. His loyalty continued after MGR's death and he became a fan of Jayalalithaa.

Celebrating the party's victory he pasted a sticker of Amma, as Jayalalithaa is popularly known, on his auto and put up a note saying that he would take anyone anywhere just for the nominal fare of Re 1.

Mathivanan said over 80 passengers travelled from Lakshmi Mill Junction to Railway Station to Ondipudur to Nehru Stadium.

On May 19, AIADMK came back to power in Tamil Nadu for a historic second time in a row. Jayalithaa was sworn in as Chief Minister on May 25.
