As the BSP supremo Mayawati met with the gang-rape victims' families in Badaun, she offered her condolences for their loss and talked to them for about 20 minutes.
In those 20 minutes, she got to know that they was being forced to withdraw their complaint against the accused. She expressed her concern regading the condition of law and order in the state under the governance of Chief Misiter Akhilesh Yadav.
She told the families that if the appropriate measures aren't taken to get the accused punished, she will come to the village again and sit on a dharna. She also offered Rs 5 lakhs to both the families after they had denied the same from the SP government.
This visit came after two girls were found hanging from a tree in Katra village of Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh after being raped and killed. The incident has brought Akhilesh Yadav's way of running the state to question. And also, it has brought to light SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav's recently made statement about rape.
