The IT department ended it's 60-day long raid this Tuesday on alleged Hawala operator and meat exporter Moin Qureshi exposing links with cabinet ministers and a political leader allegedly very close to 10 Janpath.
Since February, the IT department had raided various locations at Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and a farmhouse at Chhatarpur belonging to Moin Qureshi.
Sources say, the department seized over Rs 6 crores in cash and 20 lockers in the name of Qureshi's employees during its first raid. After interrogating, Qureshi admitted that the lockers belonged to him which had huge cash deposits.
Qureshi has been seeing a phenomenal growth in his wealth in the past few years. His meat export business AMQ Agro India had posted a turnover of Rs 167 crore which, as per the IT department, is less than the actual wealth. Qureshi had also deflated his actual wealth on paper and his bank account transactions in London and Dubai are not concomitant with his disclosed income, as per the IT dept.
The IT department is likely to collate seizures and other details and make the disclosure within two months, as per sources. They may also question ministers and corporates named in the recordings.
