Man poses as IPS officer, dupes several women in Mumbai

Police arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly duping several women in Mumbai on January 17. The accused has been identified as Aditya Prashant Mhatre who allegedly duped several women after registering himself on various matrimonial sites. He posed as an Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer to impress several women. He created his profile as an IPS officer, uploaded photographs in uniform and also uploaded a photo of his ID card. During the interrogation, he revealed that he had duped close to 24-25 women with the same modus-oprendi from various places of Maharashtra. While speaking to ANI, the police official of Dindoshi Police Station said, “He has duped around 24-25 women’s till date and took amount of Rs 5-15 lakh from them. Aditya Prashant Mhatre is a civil engineer by profession.”
