AMC work wins accolades
The year that got over on Saturday has been one of national recognition and awards for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. In July 2011, AMC bagged the first place for providing better civic amenities to its citizens by All India Institute of Local Self Government. AMC received an award from Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) at the national level for provision of basic services to the urban poor of the city. The award was given by the President of India Pratibha Patil in the sixth annual conference in New Delhi on December 13, 2011. Amid all this, it becomes important to know what other developments AMC is planning during the year 2012?
24x7 supply of water
Providing 24-hour water supply throughout the week to more areas of the city is on the AMC’s agenda this year. Currently, many areas in the city receive water for just two hours. A budget of Rs2 crore has been allocated for the work, which will be carried out in 2012.
