A 23-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly posing as a Delhi Police constable attached with the security wing of the prime minister and using a forged security pass to get favours, police said today.

Vikas, hailing from Haryana's Sonepat, was apprehended on Singhu border picket in Outer Delhi on Sunday evening when he approached police personnel seeking their favour to allow his cousin to carry passengers from the border to Haryana illegally.

"He introduced himself as a constable of Delhi Police and produced an identity card of Delhi Police (PM Security). Prima facie, the card produced by Vikas appeared to be forged," deputy commissioner of police (Outer) Chhaya Sharma said.

He later told police that he had worked as a labourer with a contractor Rajpal who used to take contracts for maintenance of parks and carpets in places the prime minister was scheduled to visit.

"Temporary passes for 2-3 days were issued by PM-Security through the contractor to work at the place of function with the direction to deposit the same after the work is over.

"Vikas did not hand over his pass to the contractor and started using it in buses and parking places to save the expenses by introducing himself as constable of Delhi Police (PM-Security)," Sharma said.

One Arvind, who had earlier worked with Rajpal, allegedly forged the identity card for Rs 200, Sharma said.

Vikas, a diploma holder in electrical branch, is the son of a Class-IV employee in the Indian Air Force.
