Bangalore: For the second day, the stand off between the Reddy brothers and Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa continued with the latter using his administrative powers to transfer 21 more officers, including the additional superintendent of police of Bellary. This, despite the Reddy brothers -- G Karunakara Reddy, G. Janardhan Reddy and G. Somashekar Reddy (all BJP) -- sticking to their guns demanding a change in leadership.
Speaking to journalists at Vidhana Soudha -- the state secretariat -- Yeddyurappa said a few ministers were not happy about his "efficient handling of the flood relief measures and were putting spokes in the wheel".
"Such measures will not be tolerated and the party high command will be informed about their indiscipline," he said.
Yeddyurappa also held a lunch meeting attended by national general secretary Arun Jaitley, backed by over 75 MLAs.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Sadananda Gowda met assembly speaker Jagadish Shettar to make him toe the party high command's line. Another team of transport minister R Ashok and information minister Katta Subramanium Naidu met Karunakara Reddy who arrived from Bellary. They later told the media that it was a family dispute, which will be sorted out to the satisfaction of both the parties.
In another development, a group of MLAs associated with the Reddy brothers wentto Hyderabad and held a meeting there. Later, Janardhana Reddy said they were loyal workers of the BJP and would not allow the party to break. He said Yeddyurappa was a good man who was being misguided by his "loyal terror" group.
"Due to this, revenue minister Karunakara Reddy has been totally sidelined in the rehabilitation work," he said.
However, within a hour he retracted the statement and asked the party high command to find a suitable person to replace Yeddy.
