New Delhi: The political crisis in Karnataka moved wholesale (chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, senior leaders of the opposition Congress and even governor HR Bharadwaj), to the capital on Wednesday.
Governor Bharadwaj said that he was in Delhi for a private reason, but he conceded to be "anxiously" looking at the developments in the state. "I have nothing to say on the matter except that nobody has approached me with any written submission on the government's strength in the House. Therefore my hands are tied," he said.
"The state is however going through some tough times with the floods and some areas are hit by drought. We will want all controversies to come to an end," he said. The Congress, on the other hand, is clearly fishing in troubled waters with leader of the opposition in the legislative assembly Siddharamaiah and leader of opposition in legislative council Ugrappa requesting the Centre to treat the Karnataka floods to be treated at par with the tsunami in Tamil Nadu.
"The calamity relief fund does not take into account the sheer scale of devastation there. We want that a special package, including a loan waiver for farmers, artisans and petty businessmen be extended," Siddharamiah said.
