Congress on Monday disapproved of former ISRO chief G Madhavan Nair's public criticism of his indictment in Antrix-Devas deal by a high-level committee, saying it is wrong to criticise the decision in this manner and the latter should better challenge it in a court of law.
"It is wrong to drag ISRO issue into political arena. The government is right or wrong is not the issue. Government has not had any kneejerk reactions, considered the matter at length and reached on a decision on the basis of an inquiry report, which is in public domain.
"Nair as a citizen has full rights to challenge the decision in court if he disagrees but it is wrong to criticise such a decision without testing it in a court. Reasons for the decision are also in the public domain," party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.
Nair had in Banglore yesterday criticized the high-level team report that indicted him in the Antrix-Devas deal, saying it had "inconsistencies and inaccuracies" and attacked the Department of Space headed by his successor K Radhakrishnan for "cowardice" in releasing only "convenient portions".
"The convenient portions they have picked up and put it in public domain. This is totally unfair. When you publish a report, it should be in totality," Nair told PTI a day after DoS released two key reports based on which he and three other scientists were barred from holding any government position.
The Department of Space last night made public the report of the high power review committee (HPRC) consisting of BK Chaturvedi and Prof Roddam Narasimha and (only) conclusions and recommendations of the five-member high-level team (HLT), headed by former Chief Vigilance Commissioner Pratyush Sinha.
