AHMEDABAD: The district court framed charges against eight accused, including Farheen Pathan, in the Devang Joshi murder incident that took place on May 7, 2006 and caused a sensation in the city. The case is kept for hearing on Wednesday.

Farheen Alamkhan Pathan, a resident of Juhapura, had allegedly murdered her lover Devang Joshi of Khokhra, with the help of her two brothers and their friends. Farheen had taken the action out of fury over Devang's decision of marrying another girl despite having a five-year relationship with her.

District judge MT Acharya framed charges of murder and conspiracy against Farheen, her two brothers and their friends, for the gruesome crime.

Twenty-seven-year-old Farheen had called Devang to her house in the evening of that fateful day. When Devang arrived there, he was assaulted and stabbed by sharp weapons. His body had 13 stab wounds when it was recovered.

Farheen and her brother Irfan were arrested by the police late in the night after the incident when they were traveling in an autorickshaw to dispose Devang's body in the Sabarmati.
