Mission 10x, an initiative of information technology giant Wipro Technologies, is all set to be introduced in Gujarat for the first time at Nirma University on Monday. The initiative aims to create skilled manpower for the IT industry by training the faculty of engineering institutes.

For this purpose, a five-week workshop will be organised at the Institute of Technology at Nirma University, in collaboration with the state government. The programme will witness participation from the faculty of LD College of Engineering and the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Computer Technology (DA-IICT), among others. “The main objective of Mission 10x is to empower faculty members of engineering colleges. The initiative helps students understand their subjects completely. It also develops behavioural skills, which would lead to higher employability,” said Sachin Sahgal, public relations officer of Nirma University.

“In the first phase of the programme, around 30 senior professors from Nirma, DA-IICT and LD Engineering will participate in the workshop,” Sahgal said.

Mission 10x has proved popular in engineering colleges in south India and has been gaining momentum in various engineering colleges across the country. Till date, 2,298 faculty members of various colleges have been trained under the programme, which has covered 182 colleges, while 78 seminars have been held in various parts of the country.
