Security has been tightened in and around the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple here in view of the 'shrawan' month festival beginning July 8 in which over 25 lakh devotees and Kanwarias are expected to participate.

"Over 25 lakh devotees and Kanwarias are expected to turn up from different parts of the country for the thirty day Shrawan month festival (8th July to 5th August)," said Pandit Harihar Kripalu Tripathi, chairman of the Kashi Vishwanath
Temple Trust.

"Foolproof multi-tier security system has been installed in and around the temple complex," Tripathi said.

Inspector general of Police Gurudarshan Singh said that additional paramilitary forces like CRPF and RAF have been deployed and several new electronic gadgets installed in and around the temple.

In addition to twenty close circuit TV cameras installed inside the temple premises, CCTV cameras have been installed at ten sensitive places in the Godowlia, Kotwali and Chowk area near the temple, he said.

DIG PC Meena said armed commandos of the Quick Reaction Team along with sharp shooters will be deployed at strategic
points in and around the temple even as the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) keeps a close watch.
