Even as Maharashtra was celebrating its 50 years of formation, the pro-Vidarbha parties including Congress and BJP today staged sit-in agitation to press in demand for creation of separate Vidarbha.

commercial market of Sitabuldi.
A number of speakers criticised chief minister Ashok Chavan for 'misleading the Central leadership' on the issue of separate Vidarbha.
In another protest, city BJP staged sit-in agitation in old city area. Former MP Banwarilal Purohit, all the three BJP MLAs, Davendra Phdanvis, Vikas Kumbhare, Krishna Khopde, city mayor Archana Dehankar were among those present.
Police said they have detained 32 persons in connection with the agitation.
