BJP Senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu today demanded that Congress spell steps being taken to bring to book the then Union Carbide chief Warren Anderson and ridiculed the "silence" maintained by the ruling party over the issue.

"It is a bhayanak paap (a terrible sin) and the Congress is trying to cover it up," Naidu told reporters in Bangalore.

Naidu, who is set to win his third term in Rajya Sabha from Karnataka in the biennial elections tomorrow, also urged the Congress to disclose who is behind Anderson's release.

On whether liquor baron Vijay Mallya, contesting as an independent in the Rajya Sabha polls in Karnataka, influenced BJP, he said, "BJP is a national party. It can take its own decisions."

The ruling BJP in the state is supporting Mallya in the election.
