Eighty-one year old Parvathi Ammal died of multiple ailments, including diabetes and heart problem, at a hospital in Jaffna in Sri Lanka on February 20.

MDMK chief Vaiko today immersed the ashes of Parvathi Ammal, slain LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran's mother, in the Bay of Bengal here.
Vaiko, a known sympathiser of LTTE, accompanied by "Tamil Eelam Liberation Supporters Co-ordination Committee" convener P Nedumaran and some of his party men immersed the ashes in the sea off Marina Beach, official sources said.
