Upset over strained ties between parents, girl kills herself in Agartala

Apparently upset over the strained relations between her parents, a 17-year-old girl allegedly set herself on fire at her residence at Moloynagar, near Agartala.

Gouri Tanti, a standard XII student, allegedly set herself ablaze after a village meeting failed to resolve the differences between her parents yesterday.

Gouri, who was also present at the meeting, reportedly rushed to home after the deliberations by village elders failed to mollify her father and mother and bolted the door from inside.

"They used to quarrell everyday and when the village meeting could not resolve the problem yesterday a shattered Gouri returned home and set herself on fire. She died on way to hospital", a villager said.
