Undertrial found dead in Jaipur Central Jail

An undertrial prisoner has been found dead under mysterious circumstances at the Central Jail here, a top police officer said today.

Mahaveer Singh, a resident of Haryana's Rewari-Narnole area, was in judicial custody in connection with a theft case. He was found dead in jail premises yesterday, director general of police (jail) Omendra Bhardwaj said here.

The body was sent for postmortem, and the chief judicial magistrate will conduct an inquiry into the incident as per the norms laid by the State home department, he said.

The deceased was brought to the jail on November 20 in connection with the theft case, he said.
