The district administration of Unai with the help of the gram panchayat plans to develop Unai, famous for yatra dham and hot water spring, into a modern tourist destination.

The Unai gram panchayat has demanded better roads, waste disposal facilities, installation of streetlights and developing a high-rise tower to transform the place.

The demands of the panchayat were placed before the top officials of Navsari district. BA Satya, district development officer (DDO) Navsari said, “Gram panchayat members met us and placed their demands.  We haven’t sanctioned any amount for the redevelopment project. The plan will be put before the concerned department and a decision will be taken soon.”

Unai gram panchayat has limited resources.

After repeated demands, the state government, by releasing funds under various schemes, has decided to transform Unai into a major tourist destination.

“Despite being an important tourist spot, Unai lacks basic facilities like roads and proper electricity supply. It doesn’t have good tourist hotels or lodges. We have only one market which is old and has few shops.

Proper development will not only help the village grow economically but also generate employment opportunities,” said Anant Patel, sarpanch of Unai village.
