The United Liberation Front of Asom (Ulfa) should immediately hold talks with the government even if the banned outfit's military chief Paresh Barua does not want it, the wife of its arrested chairman, Arabinda Rajkhowa, said today.

"It does not matter who opposes the talks because no one is above the organisation," Kaberi Kachari Rajkonwar told reporters when asked whether a dialogue is possible without Barua.

The elusive Barua, currently hiding in Myanmar, has been opposing any talks if 'sovereignity' of Assam is not on the agenda.

Kaberi, along with her two children, was accompanying Rajkhowa when he was arrested by the BSF near Indo-Bangla border in Tripura on December 2.

She also met her mother-in-law Damayanti Rajkonwar, 95, in her house at Kakwa in Shibsagar district after a gap of 18 years.

Kaberi had left the house in 1991.
