Two women arrested with cannabis worth Rs16 lakh

On a tip-off, a joint team of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officers and local police arrested Rajkumari Devi and Rabia Khatoon yesterday.

Two women have been arrested along the Indo-Nepal border in Maharajganj district with over 16 kgs of cannabis, worth Rs 16 lakh, police said here today.

On a tip-off, a joint team of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officers and local police arrested Rajkumari Devi and Rabia Khatoon yesterday, they said.

The women confessed during interrogation that they were carriers and were on their way to deliver the consignment, they added.

Ten persons have been arrested along the Indo-Nepal border in the past 10 days for smuggling cannabis.
