Two non-Manipuri persons shot dead in Imphal

Two non-Manipuri persons were shot dead by unidentified militants in Manipur's Ukhrul district, police sources said today.

The militants gunned down the two persons at Kamjong area in interior Ukhrul district bordering with Myanmar yesterday, the sources said.

The bodies were today recovered by police and brought to district headquarters, sources said adding that the victims hailed from north India.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the killing, they said.

Over 20 non-Manipuri persons have been shot dead by unidentified militants in the past two years, sources added.
