The Vasai railway police arrested two persons on Sunday for allegedly robbing mobile phones from two commuters in a local train, after stabbing them with sharp objects.

Dhiraj Gupta, 21 and Nitesh Thakur (name changed), 16, were arrested from Bhayander. Two stolen mobiles have been recovered from them.

While Gupta was remanded in police custody till February 10, the police were directed to put Thakur in the Dongri children’s home till February 15.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the other two. A gang of four got into a Virar-bound local at Bhayander in the early hours of February 5. Ashok Patel, 21 and Ishwar Kushwah, 22, were the only passengers in the compartment. They snatched away their cellphones and jumped off near Naigaon.
