Two GSRTC drivers killed in mishap near Jetpur

Two drivers of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) were killed late on Tuesday when a speeding truck hit a stationary bus that they were repairing near Jeptur town in Rajkot district.

Two drivers of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) were killed late on Tuesday when a speeding truck hit a stationary bus that they were repairing near Jeptur town in Rajkot district.

Jetpur police said that Naran Kapdi, driver of Batva-Narayan Sarovar route bus and Raghu Malavia, driver of goods career bus of Jetpur workshop of GSRTC were killed in the accident. Raja Bagda, conductor of the passenger bus and a passenger were seriously injured and rushed to a hospital in Jetpur.

The incident happened at around midnight when one of the tyres of Batva-Narayan Sarovar bus got punctured near the diversion of Sakadi village in Jetpur taluka.

Kapdi informed the GSRTC workshop in Jetpur. In response, Malavia and Raju Rathva, another employee at the GSRTC workshop, reached the spot driving in the goods bus.

While Malavia and Kapdi were busy replacing the punctured wheel, a speeding truck hit the bus from behind. Consequently the passenger bus ran over Malavia. Kapadi was crushed between the passenger bus and the goods bus, police further said.

Both of them were killed on the spot. Bagada and the passenger, who was yet to be identified, were also seriously injured in the mishap.

However, the driver of the truck abandoned his vehicle and managed to escape, cops said.  Jetpur police have registered a complaint against the driver of the truck.
