Two debt-ridden farmers commit suicide in Maharashtra

The farmers, Tulsiram Hambu Pawar and Sunil Dilip Wankhede, ended their life on Thursday in Ghatanji and Umarkhed tehsil of the district in their respective farms.

Two debt-ridden farmers committed suicide by consuming pesticide in Yavatmal, police said today.

The farmers, Tulsiram Hambu Pawar and Sunil Dilip Wankhede, ended their life on Thursday in Ghatanji and Umarkhed tehsil of the district in their respective farms, they said.

Incidentally, they took the extreme step while a central team of experts was busy making their crop damage assessment, sources said.

This year, 10 out of 16 tehsils of Yavatmal  recorded excessive rainfall in comparison to the average annual rainfall leading to crop damage there, they added.
