TRS activists today held road blockades across Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh in protest against the reported comments of state ministers from non-Telangana regions that the separate statehood demand is anti-national, an allegation denied by the ministers.

Slamming the alleged comments of the ministers, TRS leaders and workers organised 'rasta roko' in Medak, Warangal, Karimnagar and other districts in the region.

Alleging that the state ministers from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions told the Sri Krishna committee that those demanding separate Telangana are betrayers of the nation, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has yesterday demanded that the governor remove the ministers for insulting Telangana.

Demanding an apology from the ministers, Rao said his party would organise protests on the issue.

State Endowments minister Gade Venkata Reddy, who made the presentation to the Sri Krishna committee on behalf of the ministers, asserted today that they never called those demanding Telangana state as betrayers of the nation.

"We never said they are betrayers of the nation or anti-nationals. We told the Sri Krishna committee that the state be kept united. After our meeting with Sri Krishna Committee, we spoke to reporters. There also, we hoped that the state would not be divided. This is the truth. If the Telangana supporters insist that we insulted them, we leave it to their wisdom," he said.

Reddy was addressing a function in Prakasam district in presence of chief minister K Rosaiah.

To a query, Rosaiah said the Sri Krishna committee is looking into the Telangana issue and that he would abide by whatever decision is taken by the Centre.

The ministers hailing from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema region made the presentation to the Sri Krishna committee members on Friday last.
