Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar has demanded opening of a branch of the Reserve Bank in Tripura and appealed to bankers for more investments in the state.
   
The chief minister said that earlier last year at a meeting of the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), it was decided that the Credit Deposit ratio would be 40:60, but till today it remained at 30:60.
   
Stating that there was opportunity of more industries coming up in Tripura as relations with Bangladesh was improving, he said without investment neither industry nor agriculture could be improved.

Sarkar appealed to the bankers to strike a balance in the CD, more investment in agriculture and industries and opening of more bank branches to help the rural people, particularly Self Help Groups (SHG).
   
He was speaking at a meeting of the SLBC yesterday.
