Transport minister's car kills motorcyclist in Orissa

A young man was killed today after his motorcycle collided with the state transport minister Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo's car, while he was returning from Bhadrak to Bhubaneswar, police said.

A young man was killed today after his motorcycle collided with the state transport minister Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo's car near here, police said.

The minister, who escaped unhurt, was returning from Bhadrak to Bhubaneswar when his car was involved in the collision at a sharp diversion, at Rathia, about 40 km from here, they said adding the motorcyclist was rushed to a nearby government hospital at Dharmasala.

The man, identified as Prashant Panda, aged around 35 years, succumbed to injuries while being shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack, inspector in-charge of Dharmasala police station S K Rai said.

No injury was also caused to the driver of Sahoo's car and further details about the mishap were being ascertained, police said.
