TN governor hosts lunch to President Pranab Mukherjee

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah on Saturday hosted a lunch to President Pranab Mukherjee who is on his maiden visit here to attend the 150th year celebrations of Madras High Court.

The lunch was attended, among others, by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Union Ministers Salman Khurshid, GK Vasan, Jayanthi Natarajan and the entire Tamil Nadu cabinet besides Speaker D Jaykumar and various Consulate representatives stationed in Chennai.

Eminent violinist and Padma Bhusan recipient TN Krishnan played some noted carnatic and Tamil numbers.

Earlier, DMK leader MK Stalin and Party MPs including TR Baalu met the President at the Raj Bhavan.

Jayalalithaa was engaged in an animated conversation with the President, Khurshid and Vasan.

There was none from DMK at the lunch.

Supreme Court judge Justice Aftab Alam and Chief Justice of Madras High Court, MY Eqbal were among those present.

Rosaiah presented a painting to the President. Mukherjee presented a memento to Krishnan in appreciation of the music. Jayalalithaa also especially complimented the eminent violinist for his renderings.
