Three of a family killed in Uttar Pradesh as heavy rains trigger house collapse

Three members of a family died today in a house collapse triggered by incessant showers in Uttar Pradesh taking the number of people killed in rain related incidents this monsoon to 76 while major rivers rose further resulting in flood-like situation in many districts.

A 28 year old woman and her two minor children died this morning when roof of a house collapsed in Etah district due to incessant rains, official sources said here.

According to reports of central water commission the water level of Ganga is rising in Kannauj, Fatehgarh, Gumtiya (Kannauj) Kanpur Dehat, Varanasi, Ballia and Ghazipur.

Yamuna was also swelling in Mohna, Agra, and Kalpi, while river Gomti is rising in Jaunpur.

Sharda was flowing above danger mark in Palliakalan in Kheri and was swelling at Shardanagar, whereas Ghagra, has started receding at Ayodhya (Faizabad), they said.

According to the report Moradabad received a maximum rainfall of 91.2 mm in the last 24 hours, followed by Bareilly which received 62 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
