Three drowned in boat mishap in Bihar

The ill-fated boat, carrying ten persons, was sailing from Shankerpur to the other side of the river bank when it was caught in a whirlpool and capisized.

Three persons, two women and a child were drowned when a country-made boat sank in river Ganga near Shankerpur village in Bihar's Saran district last night,police said.

The ill-fated boat, carrying ten persons, was sailing from Shankerpur to the other side of the river bank when it was caught in a whirlpool and capisized, sources said.

While two women and a child drowned, others swam to safety, they said.

The bodies of the three were fished out and handed over to their bereaved relatives after autopsy, sources added.
