Three Congres MLAs proposed BG Uday for Rajya Sabha poll due to ignorance

Three Congress MLAs had proposed the candidature of Banglore-based industrial BG Uday for Rajya Sabha polls apparently due to their ignorance of the high command directive, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Ashok Ram said today.

The three Congress MLAs were unaware of the party high command's decision against backing the candidature of any candidates for the biennial Rajya Sabha polls for five seats from Bihar, he told reporters in Patna.

The directive of the high command was received by the state unit of the Congress, but the same could not be communicated to its 10 MLAs in the state in time, Ram said.

The party asked them to rescind their support to the candidature of the independent candidate Uday, the CLP leader said.

Three Congress MLAs - Abdul Jaleel Mastan, Md Tausif Alam and Md Khursheed - had yesterday proposed the Banglore-based
industrialist's candidature for Rajya Sabha polls.

Besides the three Congress MLAs, Uday's candidature was proposed by four BSP and three independent MLAs to throw the outcome of the June 17 polls wide open.
