Tenant kills landlady, then commits suicide

A woman was found murdered and her tenant found hanging from the fan when her husband came back from a trip. The police suspect the tenant of murdering the woman first and then committing suicide.

Sarojini, wife of Pramod, was found dead in her house in Extension Village, Begampur Outer district in Delhi, with stab and iron rod marks on her head and body. Her tenant Pappu, who was living in their home for the last one-and-a-half years, was found hanging from the fan in the drawing room.

“Pappu had been living with the couple for more than a year. Pramod had gone to Wazirabad to buy vegetables. When he returned he found both the bodies at 7am Saturday,” said a police official.

According to the police it was Pappu who told Pramod to go buy the vegetables from Wazirabad as they were cheap there. “This means he wanted Pramod out of the house that particular day,” said the official.

The police are investigating if Sarojini and Pappu had some illicit relationship, which led to the drastic step.

“It could be that they were secret lovers and after Pramod left the house they got into a fight and Pappu killed Sarojini,” said the police official.
