A temple priest allegedly raped and later strangulated to death a seven-year-old minor girl, police said today.
25-year-old Narendra alias Kallu, a priest at the Guteshwar temple in Shivrajpur area, took the minor girl from her house last night on the pretext of offering 'prasad'.
When the girl did not return home, the parents started searching for her and found her body this morning, they said.
SP (Rural) Lal Bahadur said prima facie it appears that the girl was strangulated to death after being raped. The body has been sent for post mortem, he said.
A manhunt has been launched to nab Narendra, who is absconding, he said.
