The Joint Action Committee of Telangana Employees today served a strike notice on the Andhra Pradesh government.

JAC leader led by chairman Swami Goud met state chief secretary SV Prasad and handed over the notice stating that they would strike work from August 1 seeking creation of separate Telangana state.

Goud later told reporters that all government employees and teachers in the region would abstain from duties and go on mass leave from August 1.

"The government failed to keep its promises made when we went on non-cooperation agitation in March this year. Those officers and employees working on illegal deputation in Telangana have not been repatriated while other major promises like appointing a judicial officer to look into employees' issues were also not fulfilled," Goud alleged.

He said the Telangana employees would take out rallies, hold dharna and stage other protests as part of the strike.

"We will continue our fight till Telangana state is formed and justice done to the employees," the JAC leader asserted.
