Teenager jumps into well with two infants in Varanasi, kids die

Two children died when a 17-year-old mentally challenged girl jumped into a well along with them at a village in the district, the police said today.

Sita, the mentally challenged girl, was playing with her relative's one-and-a-half month old daughter and their one-and-a-half-year old nephew yesterday. She took both of them in her lap and suddenly jumped into a well, the police said.

The children died instantly while Sita was admitted to a private hospital, they said.

Sita came to Varanasi from Kachhwa in Mirzapur for her treatment and was staying at her relative's place in Vrindavan village.
