Syed Ali Shah Geelani for US intervention in resolving Kashmir issue

Advocating US intervention in resolving the lingering Kashmir issue, Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani today said this would help in narrowing the gap between America and the Muslim world.

"Resolution of the (Kashmir) problem with American assistance will go a long way in eradicating the trust deficit between the US and the Muslim world," he said.

Felicitating US President Barack Obama on his vist to India, the hardline Hurriyat Conference chairman said "we hope and expect you to use all your influence to restore the right of self-determination to the people of the state."

He, however, hoped the visit would prove fruitful in improving ties between the two countries.
