SSG hospital officials on Thursday discharged two swine flu patients after significant improvement in their condition. The brother-sister duo were admitted to the hospital with symptoms of the disease on Thursday last week and detected H1N1 positive on Sunday.

When this reporter met Sweta Rai (11) and his younger brother Subham after their discharge from the hospital, they were quite calm and composed. Apparently, they had overcome the scare of swine flu. “Swine flu is a curable disease and people should not be terrified of the disease,” said Sweta.

Their mother, Seema Rai, told DNA, “We had gone to Virginia in the US, where my father has settled, on April 26. We returned to Vadodara on July 30. Soon after, my two children started suffering from cough, cold and mild fever. When Sweta started complaining of stomach ache, we consulted our physician, who advised us to go to SSG hospital as we had come from abroad. When we went there, both the children were admitted to the hospital.”

Sweta candidly said that they were bored due to isolation in the hospital ward. “We both were missing our school and our friends.” “We have to stay at home for another seven days, as the doctor uncle has told us not to go to school,” said Subham.

“Both my kids are now normal after treatment, but it is because we went to doctors well in time,” added Seema Rai.
