Six persons died due to swine flu across the country today, taking the nationwide toll in the pandemic to 514, health ministry officials said here.
With 154 fresh cases also being reported, the total number of positive cases crossed the 15,000 mark.
While two deaths each were reported from Rajasthan and Gujarat, one each was reported from Delhi and Maharashtra, a senior health ministry official said.
"With these, the total number of deaths due to swine flu has risen to 514. The total number of cases have touched 15,016 with today's fresh cases," the official said.
Of the 154 cases reported during the day, the official said, three have foreign travel history and rest are indigenous cases.
The highest number of 49 fresh cases were reported from Rajasthan followed by Delhi (32), Kerala (16), Tamil Nadu (13) and Maharashtra (10).
Maharashtra has reported the highest number of 3,778 cases in the country after the outbreak of the viral disease followed by Delhi (3,702).
"Till date, samples from 78,002 persons have been tested for swine flu in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and 15,016 (19.2%) of them have been found positive," the official said.
