The CM will address youth in all districts of the state to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda
The state government doesn’t want to take any chance during the year-long celebrations of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary following the controversy over expenses related to Sadbhavana fast in each district. The government is likely to issue an official Government Resolution (GR) entrusting responsibility to one of the state government departments to organise youth conferences in the state’s each district to mark Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary where the chief minister will address youth.
State government sources have indicated that when information related to expenses incurred during the three-day Sadbhavana fast in Ahmedabad was sought by the governor, there was no clarity in the government regarding which department had spent how much money for the event.
“Now, three committees have been formed to organise youth conferences across all districts of the state and other programmes related to Vivekananda’s birth anniversary celebrations. State finance minister Vajubhai Vala is heading the core committee, chief secretary the executive committee and state youth, sports and cultural affairs department secretary the implementation committee,” sources said.
The officer added, “It is likely that the state culture and youth department would be given the responsibility to coordinate all the programmes related to Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations. As it already has budget allocation for the celebrations of great personalities of the country, it is also likely in this year’s budget, that the department might be given extra funds for year-long celebrations. If the CM will address youth conferences in every district, the cost of such events is likely to be around Rs50 crore. An official GR will also be issued in this regard.”
According to sources, there is also a possibility that all departments will be informed to connect their youth and development-related schemes, which they are planning to introduce in the coming budget, to Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary.
