Surat to host Dr Syedna Saheb’s 101st birthday

The religious leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, HH Dr Syedna Saheb, will celebrate his 101st birthday on March 13 in Surat. Various programmes including a mass rally have been organized to mark the event in a memorable way.

Dr Syedna Saheb is the 52nd religious leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community and has already arrived in Surat to participate in the celebrations.

Dr Syedna is accompanied by his second son Saidi Muffadal Saheb. According to committee members, Muffadal will be the next religious leader of the community, the 53rd of the Dawoodi Bohras. It is believed that Sayedna will officially declare his successor on his birthday.

To celebrate the occasions in a grand way, elaborate arrangements have been made by the community members. Besides cutting a cake weighing 101 kgs, a special music programme has been organized.

Apart from this, community members will take out a massive rally from Zampha Bazaar, which will roam in various parts of the city.
Syedna will also perform a mass marriage ceremony of the community in Surat. Eleven members of the Syedna family will tie the knot in the ceremony. 

"This is really a great moment for us, as so many important programmes will be performed in the presence of HH Dr Syedna. We have been preparing for this great occasion for a long time and are eagerly awaiting the celebration of his 101st birthday," says Yusuf Cyclewala, a community leader.

Sources said CM Modi is going to meet Dr Syedna during his visit to Surat on Sunday.
