Surat-based band Odyssey were formed in September 2009 and have doing pretty well since then, both on the state and national scene.
They were in the city to perform at CEPT's cultural night, which is part of the ongoing NOSPLAN 2011.
"Before we formed the band, each of us had a decade's experience individually. And we have hit the rock scene nationally," Yogendra Saniyawala, founder of the band, bass guitarist and vocalist, said.
Saniyawala said that they have performed four gigs at Kolkata, Bangalore, Goa and Mumbai. They made their debut at IIT-Kanpur and since then they have progressed onto bigger avenues.
"Our latest show was at the Indian Music Conference, where we played along with 150 national and international artistes, the biggest feat for the band so far. The best part was that we were the only band from Gujarat to perform at that level," says Saniyawala.
Odyssey will soon launch their first album, 'No Hay Banda' which literally means, 'There is no band' in Spanish.
Besides Saniyawala, the band features lead guitarists Chaitanya Bhanawala and Anand Joseph Mani (who also plays keyboard) and Gaurav Kapadia on drums.
While they play originals and covers, their two big inspirations are Pink Floyd and Radiohead.
