Students continue protest on Central university issue in Jammu

Students of various colleges continued holding protest demonstrations here for the fifth consecutive day today in support of their demand for setting up a Central university in Jammu division.

Students of MAM college boycotted their classes and held protest demonstration on the main road outside the college, blocking traffic for half an hour today morning, official sources said. They also raised anti-government slogans during the protest demonstration, they said.

Similar protest demonstrations were held in Science college at canal road and Womens college at parade in the city, the sources said. Students of degree college of Bishnah tehsil also boycotted their classes today and held protest demonstrations demanding establishment of a Central university in Samba district of the division.

A group of about 20-25 activists of J&K National Panthers Party (JKNPP) also held a dharna near exhibition ground on the issue. Reports from Kathua district said that lawyers suspended their work in courts in the main town after noon in support of the student's demand.
